How to wear darks in summer #1. Focus: Eyes. Nudes, Dark Pinks and Golds. For Day through to Night.
Prefer wearing darks to lights? Not sure how to pull this off during summer? This How to wear darks in summer mini series is for you. ESRScreatives think we have cracked it. Turn your dark colours you love into SULTRY SUMMER SHADES by tripling them with lots of nudes and a hint of gold. We also think wearing light colours, white or cream, are key to pulling this look off. There will be Three looks coming up on ESRScreatives over the next week! #1 focusses on eyes #2 focusses on cheeks (HERE) & #3 focusses on lips. So if you are an eyes girl, this one is for you.
Emily Says: “I naturally choose dark pink, red and purple colours over lights. I do wear lighter colours and brights too, but I feel safe when picking out my darks. It’s always a toughy when it gets to summer because I don’t always feel like wearing dark/heavy and don’t want to think through wearing my lights, but I think I’ve finally cracked ‘how to:’ do this biz. And it makes me feel sexy.“
To Achieve this look: 1. *Skincare, Suncare, Base & Conceal*. 2. Powder. 3. Brows. 4. Apply your nude lip, then you can adjust eyeshadow ‘fullness’ accordingly. We have used a long lasting lip colour by L’oreal, it lasts all day, so great for day to night. 5. By mixing (on your hand) Long-Wearing-Setting cream eyeshadows with powder shadows, we think it makes the perfect consistentsy to bind itself onto the skin for all day, creaseless wear. It’s PRETTY CEMENT for your face (cements fashionable right now, right?). Here we have mixed Maybelline’s Color Tattoo in Taupe and the shade Push-Up from the Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette. 6. Start to apply in circles to your lid near the lash-line, mixing and applying, mixing and applying. 7. Slowly work your way up and out into your windscreen wiper motions. 8. We stopped right before the eye crease, and then blended in the shade Nudie (warm grey/taupe) from the Too Faced Palette into the crease. 9. Then to add some golden glowing, use your ring finger to pat a gold shade (We used Honey-Pot.. Too Faced etc..) onto your brow bone. 10. Curl those lashes. 11. Mascara, we’ve used Benefits Plum mascara to keep the deep pink theme running through.
Adding a mustard yellow nail polish is great for keeping the tones warm and summery and the golden hues running through.
TURN IT INTO NIGHT: a few additions: 1. Massage in a dark shadow or liner along the lash line for definition. Sexpresso or Erotica from the Too Faced Palette for example. 2. Bronze, we like to use it, as more of a shaping/shading blush, than contour for this look. So apply in small circles up from where you would usually contour.
